Although there have been a few rumors about the launch of the new TA, for now the only TA vehicle available is actually a Chevrolet Camaro redesigned to look like this legendary American pony car. The 2016 Pontiac Trans Am changes something every year since it’s actually a customized model made and every buyer can opt for many optional features to make this vehicle unique and different than anything that is available on the market.
lmost every year we are getting one new model and the last one that came out was done by Trans Am Depot in cooperation with Hurst High Performance vehicles. This model is named Hurst Trans Am and it looks much different than the previous 6T9 TA which was one of the most powerful cars in the world, with incredible output of 720 horsepower.
Both of these vehicles are convertibles and the 6T9 was made to look more like the vehicle viewed in „Smokey and the Bandit“ movie. This means it has two stripes on its hood and double air intake shaker scoop turn to the car’s nose. Next Hurst Trans Am model came with totally different hood that is made by RTM OE, and it is a style shaker hood with one air intake turn to the vehicle’s windshield. The 2016 Pontiac Trans Am brings back the big old fire bird logo on the hood, and few additional character lines, that gives its hood a more seventies look, while the 6T9 keeps its 1969 Trans am influence.
2016 Pontiac Trans Am Interior Changes
Interior of 2016 Pontiac Trans Am changes are also plenty. Whole cabin now looks as retro as possible with the new Hurst gear shifter, two tone leather upholstery similar to the one seen in the 1978 Firebird TA and the same goes for the gauge cluster that is also inspired by this great model. This version comes with new floor mats, head rests and upholstery enriched with plenty of Hurst and TA logos on them. Hurst also designed this vehicle’s dashboard, door inserts and all the other parts made out of carbon fiber. It also comes with embroidered central console with the TA logo on its cover.
When it comes to engine, this model packs already proven unit from 6T9 model. It comes with 6.2 liter V8 engine that is refined with new supercharger or twin turbocharger. This means it also can produce more than 650 horsepower, but it will hardly reach the figure achieved by its predecessor. Trans Am Depot didn’t announce the full specs for this vehicle, but we believe it will be much stronger than any production or custom vehicle produced today. It might only compete with Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, while regular Camaro or Mustang models fall far behind. Anyway the engine will come with numerous changes comparing to the older 6T9 model.
It is hard to determine the real price of this vehicle, it is made out of 2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS and all the 2016 Pontiac Firebird changes applied by the TA Depot cost a lot, plus the price of the regular Camaro SS model that will cost you about $40,000 without any additional options. Prices of custom vehicles like this you can usually get only on the spot after you make your order.
